Beginning with a survey in the late 1960s, Mrs. Bea Fisher laid the roots for better services for persons with developmental disabilities. Her work led program development, proposal writing and eventually, the Bea Fisher Centre. The Centre, which provided services and support in Alberta and Saskatchewan, included housing options, day program support, employment options as well as transportation and recreation services. Over the past forty years, other companies have emerged from the passion and inspiration of the Centre. Driven by strong ethics, good philosophy and leadership, the Bea Fisher Foundation, Bea Fisher Enterprises and Fisher Building Systems have all helped create better opportunities for persons with developmental disabilities.
